When he expresses his reluctance, she breaks out her trump card and starts quoting William Shakespeare. The tables turn and Nellie pleads Andy for a job as special projects planner. When Andy is forced to reveal his plan, Nellie expresses skepticism, just like the other office workers, but is proven wrong when Wallace walks in and does exactly what he means to do.
Nellie takes pity on him and gives Andy the task of cleaning the carpets, which he does lethargically and with bad technique. Andy tells David to buy the company at a certain time the next day, and cooks up a plan for a "delicious moment:" the moment when David Wallace puts Andy back into his place so Andy can fire Nellie.Īndy plans to pretend to be in poor condition and begs Nellie to give him a job the next day. However, Andy talks to David Wallace, who volunteers to buy the company. Nobody stands up to her, after seeing what happened to Andy, but most of them are content with Nellie, as she seems like a competent supervisor. Nellie continues to be manager throughout Fundraiser and Turf War. Overcome by rage, Andy punches the wall in the same spot that he targeted in The Return in Season 3. After refusing to cooperate with Robert, he is fired. Andy takes his fury to the next level and destroys a picture of Nellie's face mounted on the wall. Andy adds to the chaos and one-ups Erin by hurling a chair across the room after Erin chucks Nellie's pens, caramels, and memos all over the floor. When Robert starts to intervene, it is clear he is a bit partial to Nellie, and tells the two to "work it out like adults." Once again, Andy is thwarted and is forced to go back to his sales job, since Robert is not taking any action to help him.Įrin starts to get upset when Nellie asks her to change the way Erin formats her memos, and snaps in frustration. Andy, incredulous, storms out of Nellie's office. Nellie counters with ordering Angela Martin to dock Andy's pay, which she does, while also ignoring his requests to dock Nellie's pay.
ANDY BERNARD DOES NOT LOSE FREE
When Nellie shuts her door, they beg their coworkers to not do the reviews, but Nellie attempts to beat out the Halperts by bribing the workers with raises, and even convinces Pam to do her review by offering Pam a free nap.Īndy soon comes back, and his temper starts to rise once he finds Nellie refuses to move. Nellie sets everyone up for performance reviews, which Jim and Pam disapprove of. When workers question if Nellie is actually the new manager, Robert California takes a laissez-faire technique and lets everything play out. Nellie started her siege by plopping herself in the manager's seat, stating that Andy has not come yet to dodge questions (Andy is gone because he is driving to Florida to grab Erin). The arc lasted from Get the Girl until Free Family Portrait Studio, wherein David Wallace bought out Dunder Mifflin Sabre and reappointed Andy Bernard to manager, forcing Nellie to sink to the Special Projects planner.
